José Manuel González Méijome
Full Professor, University of Minho
Prof. José Manuel González Méijome graduated with honors in Optometry from the
University of Santiago de Compostela in 1997 and received his PhD in Sciences
(Optometry) from the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2007. He is currently a
Full Professor at the University of Minho, where he founded and coordinates the
Clinical and Experimental Optometry Research Lab (CEORLab). He previously served
as Vice-Dean of the School of Sciences at the University of Minho from 2013 to
2016. Since 2010, he has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Optometry, a
peer-reviewed journal indexed in PubMed Central, and also serves on the editorial
boards of Biomedical Research International and PLOS ONE. In 2016, he received the
International Optometrist of the Year award from the Polytechnic University of
Catalonia (Spain).
Weizhong Lan
Full Professor, Central South University
Weizhong Lan is a professor in Central South University, China and the vice
director of Aier Institute of Optometry and Vision Science, Aier EYE Hospital
Group. He finished his clinical training as an Ophthalmologist in Zhongshan
Ophthalmic Center (China) and achieved his M.D / Ph.D of Neuroscience in
University of Tuebingen (Germany). His main interest is to understand the
pathogenesis of myopia and to develop new approaches, including optical devices,
to correct and control myopia. He has led more than 10 clinical trials
investigating the efficacy and safety of anti-myopia interventions. He is the
executive president of the International Myopia Conference (IMC) 2024, which has
just been just successfully hosted in China.
Ashley Wallace-Tucker
OD, FAAO, FSLS, ABO Diplomate
Dr. Ashley Wallace-Tucker received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of
Houston, where she also completed her Cornea and Contact Lens Residency. She is an
optometrist and partner at Bellaire Family Eye Care / The Contact Lens Institute
of Houston, and serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Houston College of
Optometry. Dr. Wallace-Tucker is an active leader in the optometric community,
currently serving as Vice Chair of the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section
Council, Treasurer of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and a member of the Gas
Permeable Lens Institute (GPLI) Advisory Board. She is a World Council of
Optometry Myopia Management Navigator Ambassador and has served as a Principal
Investigator on numerous clinical trials in myopia management and specialty
contact lenses. She holds fellowship status in the American Academy of Optometry,
the Scleral Lens Education Society, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Optometry.
